USPS Postage Rate Increase - May 12, 2008

The United States Postal Service has announced a small postage rate increase effective May 12, 2008. This rate change comes one year after the last increase on May 14, 2007 and sets the stage for what will now be annual rate adjustments in May. First Class postage for letters and postcards will each increase by 1¢ to 42¢ and 27¢ respectively. In preparation for this change, the USPS will have plenty of "Forever" stamps available at all Post Offices which currently cost 41¢ and can be used "forever" no matter what the postage changes to. On May 12 the Forever stamps will also change to 42¢.

For discounted presorted mailings using Standard Mail rates the increase will average even less at .5¢ - .8¢. First Class presort rates will increase from .3¢ - 1.2¢. When you mail with Modern Postcard, we make sure that you take advantage of the maximum discounted postage rates through the use of the latest USPS approved presort software and technology. Watch our website and MP News for more information on this rate change as we get closer to May 12. Also, additional information can be viewed here.
