Canada Post Operations Resume

By Arnie Cohen, Senior Manager / Product Logistics, Modern Postcard

Last night the Canadian Legislature passed a Back-To-Work bill that will end the ongoing postal strike. As a result, Canada Post employees will start back to work as of 8:30 PM on Monday June 27th. Mail will start to be delivered within Canada on Tuesday, June 28th. All mailboxes will be unsealed starting today and post offices that were closed will reopen on Tuesday and resume regular operations.

Due to the volume of mail being held by other countries and within the Canada Post system during the dispute, transit times may still be delayed until the backlog is cleared. Canada Post has indicated that they will move as quickly as possible to process and deliver the mail. Any mail that was in the system at the time the lockout occurred has been secured for processing and delivery. The USPS will begin accepting mail for Canada first thing Tuesday morning and mail that was already being held in the USPS’ network is now being released and transported into Canada.
