Customer Spotlight: Stitchin’ Post
Tell us about Stitchin’ Post. What do you do, who are your customers?
The Stitchin’ Post was established in 1975 in Sisters, Oregon; a tiny community in the Cascade Mountains. We are a destination store for quilters and knitters with an international reputation. Jean Wells, the owner, started the world famous Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show™. Our customers come from central Oregon, greater Oregon, the west coast, and all over the world. They vary in age but most are 40 years old and older and mostly women.
Where did the idea come from – how did the business come to be?
I started the business 40 years ago to have supplies for my quilting students and a classroom to teach in. Education and inspiration are the foundation of the business.
We see a ton of interesting jobs come through the building and find your particular pieces very unique in terms of how you use folded postcards as instructional sewing cards. What do you do with these cards?
My daughter Valori Wells is a textile designer with Robert Kaufman Fabrics, and a pattern designer. We then turn her patterns into printed sewing cards and they are sold retail and wholesale internationally.
What kind of results do you get from using Modern’s print products – how has it helped your business?
Modern Postcard’s pricing structure and reliability on printing turnaround has made it possible for us to create a product that is very professional looking and successful. We love all of the different format offerings.
Can you tell our readers how they can get their hands on these brilliant sewing cards and how to stay in the know when new patterns are available?
Our sewing cards can be ordered directly from stitchinpost.com or from your local fabric store. We offer various types of sewing patterns and fabric for children and adult clothing to aprons, bags and household items.
